Services

E.P.FIRE is the leading engineering firm for the design of fire extinguishing systems with foam concentrate addition and the conversion from AFFF to fluorine-free foam concentrates.

Foam transition

We take on the project management for the transition from PFAS-based AFFF to fluorine-free foam. From feasibility studies, design and engineering to procurement and construction management, we manage your project  with an all-inclusive package.

As consulting engineers, we are legally obliged to remain independent of all manufacturers, suppliers, and other service providers. This ensures that your project remains cost-effective.

Design and Engineering of Fire suppression systems

We are specialists for the design and engineering of fire extinguishing systems. We design sprinkler systems, foam extinguishing systems, and deluge systems in accordance with NFPA standards, FM Data Sheets, VdS guidelines and DIN EN 13565.

From feasibility studies, design and engineering to procurement and construction management, we manage your project  with an all-inclusive package.

Our engineers have unique expertise and many years of professional experience in the design of fire extinguishing systems.

Sampling and PFAS analyses

We take samples of foam concentrate and premix, have them analyzed for PFAS, and advise on current bans and the scope of cleaning.

In easy-to-understand reports, we will inform you of when each foam concentrate must be replaced.

Fire tests

We test fuels, foams, sprinklers, components, and protection concepts in fire tests to confirm the effectiveness of extinguishing systems.

Our tests, which comply with NFPA standards, FM Data Sheets, VdS guidelines and DIN and EN standards, are recognized by testing experts and demonstrate the effectiveness of extinguishing systems.

Individual consultation

E.P.FIRE also creates pre-fire plans, foam concepts and impairment procedures and offers many other consulting services tailored to your requirements.

Your roadmap to fluorine-free foam

We will guide you through the foam transition – independently. It starts with the analysis of your situation and your risks.

Based on this assessment, we will develop a concept for the foam transition and guide you through the implementation.

  • 1. Situation assessment and feasibility study

In the first step we assess your risks and how they are currently protected by a fire extinguishing system. From this, we assess the feasibility and cost of transitioning the firefighting foam, the necessary technical changes, and the cleaning requirements. At the end of the situation assessment, you will receive a comprehensive report as a roadmap for switching foam agents and a cost estimate.

  • 2. Basic engineering

In the basic engineering, the design of the system is developed based on the situation assessment, worked out in detail, and refined into a coordinated overall solution. The end result is a detailed cost calculation and a complete draft. If necessary, the relevant approvals are obtained as part of the approval planning process.

  • 3. Detailed Engineering

In detailed engineering, the design is worked out in technical detail to such an extent that it can serve directly as the basis for construction. For fire extinguishing system planning, this means the dimensioned and hydraulically calculated design of all components (e.g., pipe networks, nozzles/sprinklers, extinguishing agent storage, alarm valve stations, controls). The result is ready-to-implement drawings, diagrams, calculations, and technical specifications according to which the system can be built and installed.

  • 4. Procurement Management

4 Procurement Management In preparation for procurment, the tender documents are drawn up on the basis of the detailed engineering. These include, design of the system, technical specifications, and quantity calculations, so that companies can calculate their bids clearly and comparably.

The bids received are then reviewed and evaluated from a technical and economic perspective and coordinated with the client; this also includes bidder discussions and award recommendations.

The aim is to commission a suitable specialist company that will implement the planned system in a high-quality and cost-effective manner.

  • 5. Construction Management

During this construction supervision phase, the installation of the extinguishing system is monitored to ensure that it complies with the implementation plan, technical regulations, and contractual specifications.

This includes technical inspection of the installation (e.g., piping, fastenings, components, controls) and support during functional tests, flushing, and pressure tests. Defects are documented, their rectification monitored, and approvals prepared, including evidence for experts, authorities, or insurers.

The aim is to hand over the extinguishing system in a compliant, operational condition, including inspection documents and inventory documentation.
